At the Albert Edelfelt studio area, the theme for summer 2026 is Ode to Summer, featuring sculptor Walter Runeberg as a guest. The exhibition is open from May 7 to October 4 and is accompanied by a rich programme of concerts, lectures and a theatre performance.

Simen Johan's wonderful exhibition at the Porvoo Art Factory this summer. He has developed a hybrid form of image-making, integrating candidly-photographed animals and landscapes with a compositional structuring and conceptual intent typically associated with painting or cinema. The exhibition is curated by and presented in collaboration with Fotografiska – The Contemporary Museum of Photography, Art & Culture.

The annual Emäsalo Music Festival programme offers a varied programme of baroque, film and classical music. The festival's artistic director is violinist Linda Hedlund.

River Carnival brings together local residents and visitors to enjoy the atmospheric Porvoo together.

Twice a year, the Old Porvoo Merchants' Association and the great businesses in the area organise a Shopping Night, where you can spend an evening shopping in the alleys and streets of Old Porvoo and enjoy good food and drink in the area's restaurants and cafés. The area's boutiques are open late into the evening, offering special offers and seasonal novelties.

Every year, the Porvoo Jazz Festival brings top names and rising stars of jazz music to Porvoo. The festival offers high quality music in intimate venues, including the historic setting of the Old Town. Runeberg’s Day is an annual celebration on the 5th of February to commemorate the birth of Finnish national poet Johan Ludvig Runeberg (1804-1877). In Porvoo, Runeberg's hometown, the day is widely visible in the city's streets, libraries, schools and cafés. Traditions include a torch-lit parade by the Porvoo VPK, a performance by the male choir Runebergskören BSB and various literary events. The city also awards the prestigious Runeberg Prizes: the Runeberg Prize for Literature and the Runeberg Junior Prize for Children's Literature. Cafés and bakeries offer traditional Runeberg cakes, available all year round.
