Porvoo aims for carbon neutrality by 2030. The ambitious goal and the measures defined to achieve it are documented in the Porvoo climate program. Climate work in Porvoo has not only remained at the level of discussion, but concrete steps have been taken for nearly 15 years and the implementation of energy efficiency is well on the way. The City is being planned for several years ahead, taking climate impacts and the residents into account. The electricity production in Porvoo does not cause carbon dioxide emissions and district heating is 98% renewable. Sustainable mobility is being promoted through the introduction of city bikes and car sharing.
