Seppo Hovi & Kalevi Louhivuori Trio performing in Ranta-Aitassa 17.7

Seppo Hovi’s path to becoming a professional musician began at the youth department of the Sibelius Academy. After accompanying artists like Danny, Kirka, and Katri Helena and spending years as a teacher, he became a freelancer. Television made him a familiar face through programs like Seppo Hovin seurassa and Bumtsibum, earning him several Venla Awards and a Koura honorary diploma. Together with Lasse Lehtinen, he has produced radio and TV programs exploring the emotional landscape and events of wartime and the reconstruction era.

He has worked extensively with various singers as a pianist and host of entertainment concerts or as a conductor. He has been named Speaker of the Year, and the Finnish Musicians’ Union has awarded him a special recognition prize. The jazz community has named him Finland’s Jazz Legend number 24.

In 2012, he was granted the honorary title of Music Counselor, and in 2020, he was awarded the Pro Finlandia Medal.
