A musical celebrating a singer and icon beloved by all Finns.
Seventy-five years ago, a remarkable vocal talent was born: Kirill Babitzin, known as Kirka. Kirka is one of Finland’s most successful artists, the country’s first true rock star who attracted throngs of wildly cheering fans. With his distinctive voice, Kirka won over Finnish hearts through a versatile repertoire spanning rock, pop, ballads, and even heavy rock.
The musical follows Kirka’s journey from the 1960s through the 2000s. Alongside Kirka, we encounter key figures from Finnish popular music such as Sammy, Muska, Danny, Katri Helena, Kassu Halonen, Hector, and Pave Maijanen. The performance explores different stages of Kirka’s long career, capturing the excitement of the Eurovision Song Contest, the Syksyn sävel song competition, as well as triumphs, love, and profound sorrows.
The role of Kirka is performed by the acclaimed Ilari Hämäläinen. The musical features a wide range of unforgettable songs, including Hetki lyö, Leijat, Hengaillaan, Surun pyyhit silmistäni, Kahden hullun matka, Daada Daada, Yli synkän virran, Puhelinlangat laulaa, Krokotiilirock, and Kirjoita Postikorttiin.
