The musical tells the story of the greatest rock cruise of all time, featuring the mastermind behind the idea, Juice, as well as Eppu Normaali and Hassisen Kone. Tuuliajolla tour was a series of rock concerts in towns along the shores of Lake Saimaa, as the bands sailed from city to city aboard an inland vessel named Heinävesi.
The first Tuuliajolla cruise took place in 1981, and a total of five tours were organized during the 1980s. The story begins when Eino, a sports journalist at a regional newspaper, is reluctantly assigned to cover the rock cruise after the music reporter falls ill. How will Eino manage the task, given that he’s a yuppie who hates rock music and prefers to go to bed early?
On the tour, Eino finds himself adventuring alongside Juice, Martti Syrjä, and Ismo Alanko. Tuuliajolla follows the lives and gigs of Finnish rock musicians as they embark on a hilarious boat trip through the Finnish summer over the course of one week. Eino’s yuppie lifestyle and worldview are completely transformed during the cruise — not least thanks to a charming ship hostess.
How will the tour manager cope with the rock musicians, and what about the ship’s captain? What goes through Eino’s mind when he encounters Andy McCoy, Armi Aavikko, and Danny?
The musical features hit songs from the early 1980s by the immensely popular Juice, Hassisen Kone, and Eppu Normaali.
Duration: 2 hours 40 minutes, including intermission.
