DOME presents: Porvoo Jazz Club – Equally Stupid

The Icelandic-Finnish-American trio Equally Stupid (2008-) merges jazz and rock aesthetics, a punk attitude, complex rhythms, and collective improvisation into a cohesive whole. Rögnvaldsson and Lyytinen’s 20 years of refined interplay give the band a recognizable sound and a solid foundation for bold experimentation, to which the group’s new American drummer, Sam Ospovat, brings his own powerful beats. The trio has released two critically acclaimed albums, Exploding Head (2014) and Escape From the Unhappy Society (2017), and their new album, Phantoms Among Us, will be released in the summer of 2025.
